Lidia Medrano, M.S. is a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) at Sentiero. She is a certified School Neuropsychologist with the American Board of School Neuropsychology and maintains the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential in the state of California. She spent her career as a school psychologist in the California public school system advocating for children with disabilities by ensuring their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are met while accessing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Her work recently expanded to include the adult demographic as a psychometrist on a research project with the University of California San Diego (UCSD).
Ms. Medrano’s role is versatile and pivotal for the Sentiero team. Her purpose as an LEP is to create fulfillment through challenge and inspiration so that she can provide direction and a voice for students with special needs. As a bilingual educational neuropsychologist, she has expertise in school neuropsychological assessment, conducts testing to evaluate executive functioning, learning strengths and challenges, social and emotional development, and adaptive skills. To better understand and navigate the special education system, she provides support and guidance to parents through psychoeducation, reviews Individual Education Plans (IEP), and attends special education eligibility meetings.
Ms. Medrano’s curiosity about how the brain processes the world has motivated her work. As an avid learner, she regularly attends webinars and conferences addressing various topics of neurological and cognitive development in children. She believes understanding and empathy are essential, and she works to establish a trusting relationship with children, adolescents, and families to help develop motivation and resilience.
